A Long Desire to Visit Canada
I spent many years wanting to visit Canada. It’s not a difficult trip, nor is it considered “off the beaten path,” but for me, it was something I had long hoped to experience.
One of my early interests growing up was architecture — skyscrapers, engineering, and massive structures. And for a long time, one structure stood out to me: the CN Tower in Toronto.
The idea of standing at the top of it stayed with me for years.
Setbacks Along the Way
Despite how close Canada is, getting there wasn’t easy for me.
After college, I spent a year trying to find stability in a struggling web design career. Gaining experience was difficult, and holding onto a job was even harder.
Multiple times, I came close to booking a trip to Toronto and each time, something fell apart. A job would be lost, plans would collapse, and what should have been a simple weekend getaway felt completely out of reach.
Not once. Not twice. But four times.
Finally Making It Happen
Eventually, things began to change.
Through persistence and hard work, I found financial stability in South Carolina — a place I never imagined would be where things started to come together.
Working two jobs and continuing to push forward, I was finally in a position to make this trip happen.
And when it did, it meant more than just visiting a new country.
It meant:
- finally standing at the top of the CN Tower
- seeing Niagara Falls
- exploring Toronto
- walking through the capital
- experiencing Montreal and French Canada
More Than Just a Trip
People would often say:
“Why go to Canada? Just go to Europe.”
But that never mattered to me.
This trip wasn’t about distance or status. It was about finishing something I had started years before.
It was about remembering all the times I couldn’t go — and appreciating that I finally could.
Any one with a passport can go to Canada, but my trip to the north is beyond that. It’s a result of my hard work, perseverance, looking back now after years of travel “I DID IT!!”.
This trip is not just an ordinary Canada trip, this is my long desired Canadian adventure.
