At 26 years old, I left my job and your average 9-5 life in South Carolina to travel the world. I spent 6 incredible months in Southern Europe and ended up becoming a nomad. Eight years later, I am still exploring, at 39 countries and then some. How does the Ocean connect you to your heritage? 💙 How does the ocean shape your cultural identity? 🌊 In the Pacific, the ocean is not just a body of water—it’s a connector, a life source, and a reflection of culture and identity for thousands of years. Manu’a was one of many of Pacific voyaging experiences where I had the blessing to see how much the land and especially the Ocean provides. Like Mambo in this photo shared what he loved about home, the ocean. But even beyond food sustainability; the ocean is bridge between worlds. As Mambo also shared, “The Ocean makes me feel connected to other islands.” 🌊 Note: One of my favorite images ended up on display at the @mosooifestival art gala last month and incredibly blessed to finally share it on my platforms.
