At 26 years old, I left my job and your average 9-5 life in South Carolina to travel the world. I spent 6 incredible months in Southern Europe and ended up becoming a nomad. Eight years later, I am still exploring, at 39 countries and then some. capturing the art of traditions & storytelling: ch capturing the art of traditions & storytelling: chapter 1 📸 It’s hard to believe it’s been five months since my first-ever photo and video shoot, capturing a Samoan Taupou and Manaia in the beautiful village of Fagamalo. Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to my dear friend @leiatasi , who crafted an incredible day for us, making sure everything fell into place. And models @_neon685 & @kiale07 . Initially, choosing the right location felt like a challenge, but as we drove along the west side, Neon & I both felt connected to our village of choice. I didn’t have much of an idea for how this shoot would tie in, but I could sense art and storytelling that would unfold with time. That, with traditionals on or off, traditions and culture lives strong within, always. A celebration of resilience, merging the past with the present in an ever-evolving world. 🌎 Though it’s been many months, sharing them now feels most significant. Because that art and all these visions through storytelling makes so much sense in the full circle of my time in American Samoa. 🇦🇸 As I work tirelessly to story-weave the narratives of this realm of Samoa, this shoot actually meant so much more to me for the grander scale of One Ocean, One People. Truth be told, I’ve always dreamt of capturing traditions in this way through a photographic lens and especially through visual storytelling. Leading the way to capturing the beautiful faces of Oceania in Tokelau, Kiribati, Torres Strait Islands, Micronesia, Rotuma and beyond… when the sails carry me onward beyond the shores of the territory. Like all journeys through Oceania, whether it’s been hours or months, trusting the mana of the Moana has ALWAYS comes full circle in the end. As I like to say….this is what voyaging is all about! 📸✨ #americansamoa #samoa #voyaging #oneoceanonepeople

Once upon a time, the sail to Fiji ⛵️🌊 Exa Once upon a time, the sail to Fiji ⛵️🌊 Exactly 6 years ago; The truest form of voyaging I have ever encountered was those 5 days on the Moana, under the stars surrounded by the elements of ocean, wind, birds, and stars. Way before documentation initiatives and humble documentary projects, was the innocent attempts to visit Wallis & Futuna by sail. Only the ride I caught was on the common route west direct to Fiji. 🇫🇯 I reminisce and never forget what the magic and spirit of being completely isolated in the middle of Ocean did for me. Seeing the endless horizon of Fiji’ Lau Islands for the first time. And now that I understand the true meaning of the Moana on this voyage with the appropriate titled voyage of “One Ocean, One People”? This particular voyage takes on bigger meaning <3 #pacificislands #oneoceanonepeople
