Future Chapter: The Grand Latin American Voyage

Voyage Journal — Reflections from the road and the dreams that continue to shape the journey.

The Dream Before the Pacific

Way before the Pacific Islands, before motorbiking New Zealand, dancing hula in Hawai’i, and way before backpacking the cities of Europe, was a dream to voyage Latin America.

Since I’ve been back with my family, back in Belize for the sixth time since my first backpacking trip in 2013. And especially so with a heart, spirit, mind and soul full of raw voyaging, I’ve been rekindling a spark into my original vision, one that aligns smack next to an inward voyage into my roots – a journey to my home islands.
But more excitingly, a voyage across the entire Americas, across Latino America.

This voyage would have been in 2016/2017 and instead shifted around to Europe, originally Australia changed to New Zealand which paved the way for the Pacific islands where I’ve been for 9 years ⛵️🌊

The Dream That Never Left

The thing is, this dream has never changed or vanished. It’s always been in the back of my mind as my core dream voyage, all while I’m traversing the Hawaiian islands through kanaka maoli, motorbiking New Zealand, and dancing fatele between the Tokelau islands…It’s ALWAYS been there! ❤️‍🔥
Latin America nations may be divided by borders just like the Pacific islands. But Latin America is my home🥰
It’s my roots!
It’s my language
…and as far as my ancestry says – no matter the percentage – mi sangre! My blood!
I include nations who speak a language other than Spanish in this side of the world too.

It’s ironic that alongside touching up of Spanish with my grandparents alongside some research I’m doing about my Dominican side (will share in a separate post), Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance last month seemed to be a sign amongst signs that this is not just an ordinary voyage. One that would be a deep intentional journey inward while carrying on storytelling visions birthed in oceania over to my home.
And all I can say is that by the time this voyage comes around, the story itself will move hearts including my own!

When the Time Comes

I have my commitments to see this chapter through in Oceania because that’s where my heart continues to drive me. And yes I’ve got quite the journey of islands ahead.
But know, that once concluded, these sails will be carrying the spirit of Oceania alongside the fire of humble Latino back across the ocean and onward across an entire continent for one hell of a story amongst stories – including Puerto Rico & Dominican Republic.

Keep in mind to those still reading. My voyaging isn’t like your ordinary travel creator that pops into a place and moves on. This is spanning a life of intentional and meaniful travel.
With each place and step being intentional on its own. Followers will come and go as I lean against the trends style media.
But if you’re with me for the long haul, you’re in it for a long journey 💟

The First Sign — Guatemala, 2013

Back in 2013 and on my last day in Guatemala, I was tempted to keep going instead of catching a flight back to the states. But i had a feeling that despite the temptation, it wasn’t time just yet. And now things are beginning to make more sense from an intention lens, both inward and outward.

Until then: 🇧🇿🇬🇹🇸🇻🇭🇳🇳🇮🇨🇷🇵🇦🇨🇴🇻🇪🇪🇨🇵🇪🇧🇴🇵🇾🇺🇾🇦🇷🇧🇷🇬🇫🇸🇷🇬🇾🇨🇺🇭🇹🇪🇸
