I started editing for this project back in April as the follow up to my cultural project Living Like A Palauan continuing my playlist of Palau. But the project had fallen into the shadows of a wild roller coaster that much of this year has been.
Those blessings became the massive expansion of my Native Hawaiian cultural immersive experience and making connections with people from Micronesia, Tokelau, and many of the island stops on this upcoming journey.
But even with my move from Hawai’i, to South Carolina, Belize, and New York, I’ve not only found the ability to pull through with this project, but used this project as an opportunity to further enhance my editing abilities through sound design.
Peleliu: Then & Now is a reflection of my journey to the island back in September 2022 paralleled with historic footage in order of events back in 1944. A concept I followed through on but has turned out much better than I envisioned!
