70 miles west of Key West lies one of the most incredible places Iʻve ever had the opportunity to visit, Dry Tortugas National Park. 9 small low lying islands, a large marine area, lighthouse, and Fort Jefferson, a civil war era fort turned prison, turned museum in this breathtaking oasis.
I highly recommend anyone to visit the Dry Tortugas when visiting Key West. During my time in Key West, I booked a boat excursion to Dry Tortugas National Park and to this day is one of my favorite places in my world travel. At the time, I booked a couple of days in advance, but nowadays I hear seats get booked quickly the closer the departure date is.
So plan accordingly as seats get booked up quickly. 🙂
