Last month was election time in Philippines and from what Iʻve learned, itʻs quite….interesting.
But aside from Politics, the Philippines has swiftly risen up on my long seeminlgly endless list of travels. Quite honestly, it has risen right up to the top ten list. Here are some reasons why:
Filipinos in Hawaiʻi
The biggest impact to this travel desire doesnʻt even have much to do with research. Thanks to having lived in Hawai’i for four years, itʻs not overselling to say that, there are a lot of Filipinos that live here. Stemming from itʻs plantation history and itʻs large community here, it would not be hard to connect with and meet Filipinos here.
Whether first generation or several generations deep, Iʻve have the opportunity to work with so many Filipinos and can generally conclude, that there are some of the friendliest and most fun people to ever be around.

There are over 7,000 Islands
Now that I had reason to glance over at the very culture Iʻm often surrounded by here in Hawai’i, I had to glance over a Google Maps of the Philippines to really get a look at what Iʻm dealing with here. MY LORD, there are over 7,000 islands ranging from small to large across this archipelago. Coolest part that would be very exciting to explore, is exploring by ferry…one of my favorite ways to travel.

Endless Waterfalls
Now that I really have my attention on the Philippines, over time Iʻve added tourism based social media accounts across the Philippines such as ʻThe Philippinesʻ Facebook Page & individual content creators on Instagram reels thanks to “algorithm”
The Philippines has seemingly endless waterfalls and waterfall attractions just about everywhere. Everytime I pop on Instagram, there is AT LEAST one new waterfall I discover and frankly, now Iʻm hooked.

The FOOD!!!!
I am no foodie nor will I ever try to be as thatʻs not exactly my niche. But as food is as important to world travel as culture is, The Philippines is no where close to being shy when it comes to showing off itʻs loud and proud cuisine. From my favorite pancit to a simple lumpia dish, itʻs quite obvious that my taste buds are only getting warmed up here in Hawai’i!

Friendliest People EVER!!!
As I have mentioned before, Filipinos people are just generally the kindest, most loving, and fun people youʻll ever get to meet and encounter. At least, Iʻve yet to get proven wrong but I doubt that so far. From your youngster, to young adult, to uncle and auntie (titles given to respect elders here in Hawai’i and the Philippines), no matter the age or background, I just know that all of my personal encounters in the Philippines will be absolutely incredible and impactful to my dear heart.
Have you ever been to the Philippines? Please let me know below.
As of right now (June 2022), I have no immediate plans to visit the Philippines as Iʻm aimed for the Pacific Island countries as far as travel goes. But Iʻm always telling my fellow Filipinos here, Iʻm definitely game for a spontaneous 2-3 month trip in the Philippines.
